Online education and workWith the responsibility of staying at home and the closures of schools, universities and offices, people had to adjust to the new context depending on each situation. Having classes and learning online, holding work meetings by video call or creating a different method of organization, more adapted to digital, are some of the changes that occurred.
This led to a considerable increase in online and social media traffic, as well as the use of certain useful apps in this context. Due to the pandemic, these changes, which can take a long-term time to implement, had to be implemented immediately. Then each person and/or company will have their preference regarding digitization.
New consumption habitsPurchases through eCommerce and the number of new customers, who decided to buy products online for the first time, have increased significantly since the beginning of the quarantine. And many businesses, due to not being able to open the physical store, have adapted to digitization and to market their products through an online store or WhatsApp Business.
On the other hand, although it is already relatively common to make transfers from Home Banking or digital banks, pay in the supermarket or other places with a credit and/or debit card, neighborhood businesses had not yet fully adapted to this.
In this sense, the important change that occurred in people's consumption habits has to do with the fact that these places (greengrocers, butchers, warehouses) began to offer different options to pay digitally. Digital wallets, mainly Mercado Pago, and also QR code payment are variants that businesses began to add to adapt to this context.
Growth in online ordersAccording to VTEX , eCommerce and ordering apps started the first week of quarantine with up to 500% increase in their orders.
Companies and stores should consider changing from the physical store to online marketing, or at least combine sales with both channels, because it is increasingly necessary if you are looking for your own growth with the idea of adapting to customers.
Digitization is a reality.
